"Combat" is a legendary item from the 1972 ISSEY MIYAKE Collection, produced in collaboration with illustrator Terry Johnson. This item will be revived by PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE.
The ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE Ginza Store will be the first in the country to make the collaborative collection available, including the two items that Terry Johnson illustrated especially for the 2013 Autumn and Winter Collection, starting from May 16 (Thu). This is a special series with unique and thrilling primitive but elaborate illustrations of a funky and groovy shouting man and sexy dancing girls.
In commemoration of this collection, an installation titled "TERRY'S SECRET HOLES" will be in place from May 16 (Thu) to June 14 (Fri). Please enjoy the "primitive but elaborate" world unfolding from the installation pieces in the windows and inside the stores.
During the installation period, we will be offering a nice present to customers who purchase PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE products. Please visit the store early, since the quantity of presents is limited.
In-Store Show
An in-store show was held on March 2 (Sat), as a "2 YOU" event. The second in-store show will be held from 15:00 on March 9 (Sat). We look forward to your visit.
New Products and the Start of "2 YOU"
"2 YOU" started from March 1, together with the release of new products.
The window display is an installation entitled "Toki Ori Ori Nasu" by Open Reel Ensemble.
Old, open-reel tape recorders are installed horizontally, and the magnetic tape wound on one of the reels of each unwinds while the music plays, and falls inside an acrylic container. Ribbons of tape gradually fold over and fill the inside of the container, forming a woven pattern inside the space. The effect sometimes looks like fiber, or a picture drawn by the passage of time. When the container becomes full, the pattern (sound) is erased by the tape being rewound by the high-speed rotation of the reel. Then, another pattern is woven anew, as if folding time itself.
Open Reel Ensemble
The Open Reel Ensemble was formed in 2009 by Ei Wada, together with his fellow students Kimitoshi Sato, Haruka Yoshida, Takumi Namba and Masaru Yoshida. They devised a new way of using old open-reel decks and the modern computer, by combining them into a musical instrument. The mysterious sound and the musical sensibilities of the group have attracted wide attention. In addition to providing music for commercials, films and for remixes by other artists, they stage live performances not only in Japan, but in various countries around Europe. The group produced the music for the ISSEY MIYAKE show at Paris Fashion Week for autumn/winter 2012, spring/summer 2013 and autumn/winter 2013.

The group released its first real product, "Tape to Tape," through vinylsoyuz, using the no.5 tape made by RMG.
The sale of the product was limited to 200 units. * It came with music download codes.

March 2013
The latest work from Gakken is on sale! Kaiten - En-Cyclepedia is the group's first book, and is the "Users' Manual" of Open Reel Ensemble.
