WORK Series
Gradation Series (letters and characters)
A series that uses a single hiragana character or a letter of the alphabet as the motif. The letters and characters are likened to geometric shapes such as a circle and square, and movement is added by using grainy gradations effectively. “Work: I” reflects the pursuit of the letter’s shape itself, while “Work: tsu” makes us imagine the trail that is left in writing the character.
Work: Q Series
This series uses the alphabet “Q” as the motif, and shows how the letter begins to move on the screen, turns into a cylinder, then to a sphere, transforming into various different shapes in each differently numbered work. The two pieces of work shown here feature a contrast of vivid primary colors being defined by black, and sometimes by a little bit of white that is used in some works. This color composition resonates with the formative design to produce effects exceeding those of the number of colors actually used.
