KURA Exhibition: GOOD GOODS −WAKU–
GOOD GOODS −WAKU–
GOOD GOODS ISSEY MIYAKE is a store that carries small “good goods”, items selected from across the ISSEY MIYAKE brands. The concept of the store is to share the spirit of craftsmanship and making, which leads to creations of new “good goods”.
This exhibition presents WAKU*, bags created by GOOD GOODS ISSEY MIYAKE.
One of the characteristics of WAKU is its black frame that outlines the bag’s shape, inspired by the truss system often used in architecture as a means of load distribution in towers, bridges, ceiling beams, etc.
The design of WAKU makes creative use of this structure and produces lightweight, freestanding bags that are not only functional, but also fun to look at. This exhibition features an installation along with a video that express the uniqueness of WAKU.
- The term waku means framework in Japanese.
