Ken Okuyama, the world-renowned industrial designer, has newly participated in the “ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH” Project. He has been engaged in a wide range of activities, from creation of traditional Nanbu iron kettles to designing of the Shinkansen trains, fully equipped with the most advanced technology. He is widely known in particular for his automotive designs, such as the Ferrari Enzo, and his works are consistently praised worldwide.
The new “GT” watches were inspired by the “Grand Touring” automobiles for motor sports, Okuyama's field of expertise. By fusing grace into the simple, unadorned automotive design, the functional elements of the GT automobiles - speed, distance and time - are embodied in the mechanical watches.
As if heralding a grand adventure to places unknown, the new ISSEY MIYAKE prestige watches are ready to begin ticking.
On June 9 (Fri), a total of 4 limited-edition models will be released.
