ELEMENT SERIES Ⅲ
CONCEPTWhat do we need from our sunglasses? It was this simple question that sparked the design of the ELEMENT SERIES III. First, we want our shades to protect our eyes and skin from UV damage. Next, we want excellent comfort with the robustness to withstand frequently being worn and removed. And finally, they should uplift the wearer. Addressing these requirements led to the birth of these boldly-shaped, television-cut sunglasses.
DETAIL 1Television Cut
This is a style in which the inner rims of the sunglasses are diagonally hollowed out, as often found in vintage eyewear. Its name was inspired by the shape of cathode-ray tube televisions. Using the handcrafted techniques of cutting and polishing, a transparent circle is made to appear between the frame front and the lens. The sunglasses are large and protective of the eyes, and the depth of transparency gives them a lightweight look.
DETAIL 2Spring hinges
Our daily lives consist of hustling between the indoors and the outside world. Sunglasses are therefore an item that we slip on and off frequently. The spring hinges used in this design make them easy to open and close again with one hand without the need to add pressure, thanks to the spring mechanism. The internalized hinge is not visible from the exterior, giving the sunglasses a soft feel and reducing the weight born by the temples.
DETAIL 3Anti-UV protection on both sides of the lens
Amid rising levels of ultraviolet sunlight, our eyes and skin sustain damage without warning. Everyday measures to address UV rays are vital. Typically, an anti-UV coating is applied to the front lens of sunglasses, but this does nothing to protect against reflected UV rays coming from behind you. The ELEMENT SERIES III lens feature anti-glare UV protection, cutting reflective UV rays from the rear by 95%. For modern people leading active lives, these lenses play a vital role in protecting eyes and skin.
