AUTUMN WINTER 2019 COLLECTION

On Thursday, January 17th, ISSEY MIYAKE MEN presented its AUTUMN WINTER 2019 Collection at Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

The theme of this collection is “Feeling the Wind”. Paying homage to the sensation of freedom and energy the wind provides, multi-methods of dyeing and weaving are used to bring warm but airy clothes for agile wearers.


The collection will appear in stores in early June, 2019.

Wind are the unseeable motifs expressed using various techniques. Sharp yellow diagonal graphics cutting through wind uses the traditional batik technique, abstract image of tailwind is made by jacquard weaving, and the whirlwind inspired pattern is transfer printed.

SPEED MOTIF

The border pattern expresses speed using the traditional ikat technique. The silk-wool series with the thick border is created by kumigasuri, a specialized type of ikat, along with the black shirt and pants are a mix of ikat and discharge printing.

The line patterns representing the remnants of lights are achieved using tweed. The border pattern is made by using the checkered dyed flannel fabric as its weft.
